WHEREABOUTS IS SWEET ITCH FOUND?
It occurs World-wide in many countries. According to Danny W.Scott and William Howard Miller in the book Equine Dermatology (2003) the incidence of Sweet Itch is as follows:-
UK 2.8%, Switzerland 3%, Japan 4.4%, Israel 21.85, Canada 26%, Germany 29% and Australia 32%.

In the USA the states which appear to be most affected are South California and Michigan and in Canada, British Columbia; but this may be just because more has been publicly reported.If you have evidence to the contrary please contact the Editor.

There is no Sweet Itch in Iceland as there are no culicoides midges. Refer also to the section Which Animals are Affected?
